課程概述

The goal of this course is to prepare GMBA students with the skills needed to undertake quantitative research for their Master Dissertation. Specifically, the course will introduce and discuss the structure of a research paper by taking students through a step-by-step process of topic generation, literature collection, methodology design, data collection and analysis. 

課程目標
After completing this course, students will be able:

‧ Design and execute a research project that demonstrates logical and critical thinking using their knowledge.
‧ Understand the layout and principles of an Academic Thesis, a Business Proposal and Quantitative Case Studies.
‧ Be able to clearly articulate research or project objectives in an academic context
‧ And be able to analyse and interpret their collected data using R

These goals will be achieved through a combination of lectures, reading discussions, example analysis, and assignments.

Assignment 1: Generate prospective topics, build an outline, and collect a potential reading list 
Week 2
9/17  Research Design
(1) Survey and Questionnaire Design
(2) Quantitative Data Analysis
(3) Experimental Design
(4) Key Secondary Data Sources
In-class: Defining a research problem; Generating research questions; Developing Data Collection Tools
Assignment 2: Define your research problem, identify research questions (supported with literature) and propose a relevant data collection tool. 
Week 3
9/24  Research Analysis
(1) Understanding Causal Inference and Hypothesis Development
(2) Data cleansing and data structuring in quantitative research
(3) Applications of Descriptive Statistics
(4) Types and Application of Inferential Statistics
In-class: Feedback on Data collection tool; Chi-square Analysis; T-test; Regression Analysis
Assignment 3: Complete Data Collection Tool. 
Week 4
10/1  Writing Up the Results and Defending
(1) Reporting and Interpreting Results
(2) APA Formatting
(3) Preparing for an Oral Defense
In class: ANNOVA; Analysing a Thesis Example.
Final Assignment: Draft Completed Thesis Proposal; Prepare Proposal Defense 
Week 5
10/8  In this session, students will deliver their thesis proposal presentation in the same format as an official Oral Defense. Students will receive feedback on their presentation styles and written proposals. The final writing report is due 1-week later.
